THE place for BBQ in the Big Country
By Tim Vasquez on 2/7/2001 from Norman, OK
If you end your chase day in the Big Country, Joe Allen's is all you need to know. It's known locally as having the best BBQ for miles.

Almost Good
By Bryan Meredith on 3/28/2003 from Ponder Texas
Joe's is good BBQ, and he does have cornbread (trademark of the Abilene BBQ joints). However, I think the meat is a bit dry compared to others. Not to knock Joe's for BBQ; I'll go there for a great steak, but Harold's BBQ with the Hot Water Cornbread is my choice when I am in Abilene for BBQ. For truckers passing through Abilene, then Harlow's is the best alternative for BBQ with the location a block south of I-20/US 277, with truck parking being a bit more amicable for trucks.

Harold's Best BBQ in the world
By Louie Weber on 11/5/2003 from Wauseon, OH
I'm 6'4" 425lbs. which qualifies me as an eater. Harold's BBQ in Abilene, TX is THE best BBQ in the world. Joe Allen's has the best Ribeye EVER, but Harold's rules the pit!

It's all good....

You can't get "bad" BBQ in Abilene, but some are better than others. Harold's is the best in the WORLD!!! Joe Allen's is good. I'll bet my house is not the only house in Houston that has a bottle of Harold's sauce in the fridge.

A local favorite
By Tim Vasquez on 2/7/2001 from Norman, OK
We've dined here since 1998 and the food has consistently been excellent, with service typically being fairly good. The kitchen is open until 10 pm (11 pm weekends) for those chasers looking for a late bite around OKC.

Frozen Margaritas
By Shane Adams on 2/13/2001 from Norman, OK.
On The Border's frozen margaritas are the best in the world. They taste wonderful, have the perfect texture, and stay consistently frozen all the way to the bottom. And with the enormous size of these things, it takes a while to GET to the bottom. A perfect way to wash down either a quick lunch before the chase, or a lazy dinner afterwards, whether you're forgetting a bust and dreaming of better chases, or celebrating a 3-tornado day.

One of the best hotels in SW Kansas
By Tim Vasquez on 2/7/2001 from Norman, OK
We stayed here in June 1999, and it was one of the best hotels I've encountered so far in SW KS. Rooms were clean and well-furnished and service was friendly.
