Great Software
By Anonymous on 2/22/2007 from Norman, OK USA
Whether you want to look at storms in three deminsions, or look at the derived products that help you better diagnose the severe weather... you will be happy with this incredibly powerful software. This by far, exceeds any software that you can buy personally. Not to brag, but this program exceeded my expectations and my hopes. I have tried all of the programs on this page, but none of them stand up to the incredible power of GR2Analyst Edition. It is the best...!
Absolutely Fantastic!
By medic911 on 4/24/2008 from Springfield, MO USA
After trying nearly every product I could get my hands on, and speaking with a number of professional meterologists, I finally settled on GRLevel 2: Analyst, and I couldn't be any happier. It's a fantastic product, and well worth the money! If you cannot afford the analyst addition, then do yourself a favor and get the cheaper Level 2 or Level 3 versions. They lack the AMAZING 3D view which Analyst offers, but they are both much cheaper, and still very excellent programs. I couldn't be happier! The best software I've ever purchased!

WeatherTool 2001
(Win Platform-All) WeatherTool is a weather observer's/forecaster's gold mine. Within the bounds of WeatherTool, you will find access to EMWIN data (w/alarm), national, regional and nexrad radar imagery, national and regional satellite imagery, surface and upper-air maps, current and forecast soundings, model guidance, and severe weather outlooks. Weathertool NOT Weather Tool
By Dave Potts on 4/9/2004 from London UK
middle america (8/4/2003) is quite right about the spyware, but has misidentified the product - I'm pretty sure he is referring to 'Weathertool', as opposed to 'Weather Tool' - that little space makes a big BIG difference. I found the former on my daughter's PC last night and spent (wait for it) 11 (count them with me) ELEVEN long hours attempting to eradicate it. CW Shredder, Adaware, Spybot S&D, Bazooka, Spyware Blaster, Spysweeper, NAV and anything else I could find to chuck at it. I'm not sure but I think it may be part of a suite of particularly stubborn bits of spyware lumped in with CoolWebSearch, MySearch and god knows what else. I'm too tired to think right now but as this was the only reference I could find to "weathertool + spyware" on Google I thought I'd stick this here for anyone caught in the same position. I'm 99% clean now but feel a bit of registry editing coming on - be interested to hear from anyone else who has had similar problems - I'm often on the Answerbank...

One of the best products I've used!
By Anonymous on 5/8/2002 from NE Ohio
This program outperforms the freeware weathernode software which is no longer supported. This program is more customizable than the freeware programs currently available. This company also has a radar package that meets and beats the "pay" services, such as WeatherTAP, which I will be letting my subscription for expire this month.
spyware beware!
By middle america on 8/4/2003 from usa
This program is spyware and is not to be trusted. God forbid you want to remove it, you may as well reprogram big blue. Invasive software, sending your information back to the net, and burying itself in your system registry, affecting system performance and stability....you are warned
Superb
By Scott on 8/18/2003 from Boca Raton, FL
Mods should definitely ban the previous author from these boards. Nothing said is true, nor do I think the author has one iota of knowledge as to what spyware is. InterWARN has run on many of our LAN PCs since we first purchased it in mid 2000. The program hardly uses any CPU/RAM and has run for months w/o interruption (very stable). As a sysadmin, I can tell you with 100% certainty that it doesn't send a single piece of information outbound nor does it install any other software along with it. I will stand behind that statement. Great work guys and keep those updates coming! This program really does everything you want and more if real-time localized weather info is key to your business, chasing, or whatever.
Works as promised - if not better.
By Anonymous on 8/31/2003 from Dallas, Texas
User since v1.0 (current is 3.1) and could not be happier. It works as promised and more - and I've always had tech support/customer service respond my questions/inquiries within 48 hours (often on weekends, too). When retreiving fresh data, there is a momentary system performance hit (e.g. other applications may slow on my Dell PIII 600Mhz w/640M RAM). My view, this is par for the course and similar to any other data intensive application having the need to acquire information from the Internet. As for spyware, none. I run multiple spyware, adware tools such as PestPatrol, TDS-3, The Cleaner, SpyBot Search and Destroy and Webroot Spy Sweeper - none have ever tagged InterWarn or any of its components as spyware. I also run TamoSoft CommView (a protocol analyzer/decoder) and can watch the IP traffic in/out of my LAN. I've never seen InterWarn act remotely like spyware nor have I had any system stability issues (note other "reviewer" comments).
InterWarn SpyWare
By Vengence on 11/2/2003 from KCMO
Superb, apparently you don't know much about internet security. First of all, when you install the newer version of InterWarn, it tells you that the program will send info back to the owner to verify if the program is a fraud or not. Don't believe me? Fine.
Install the program and set it up as you want. Then, go to a command prompt and type NETSTAT -A . You will see the program is trying to connect to it's owner. Block InterWarns address on all ports. Do a NETSTAT -A again. You will now see the IP addres of InterWarn with a "SYN_SENT" flag by it. Huuuum, you tell me what the hell their doing. I don't think it's spyware as a sense of making all your stuff public. However, I do think InterWarn can track you if they like.
Anyway, I think the program is good. Better than all the rest I've worked with.
Bad Support
By Anonymous on 6/11/2007 from Somewhere in OR, USA
The author of this program is arrogant and has a poor attitude. He also must be a paranoid, because he's so afraid of loosing money, the program sends user info to his server(s) to spy on users. If you have to re-install his program more than twice, it won't re-register. He then refuses to issue you a new code without re-paying. If InterWarn has a bug, it's always the user's PC or the user who's at fault....never his program's. He supposedly works for the NWS. I feel sorry for his co-workers!
The Columbia Weather Center
By Anonymous on 8/31/2007 from Bloomsburg, PA
I have been a user of InterWarn for several years now and this has been an outstanding program with NO SPYWARE. I have uninstalled it in the past and reinstalled it with no problems. The support from the author has been very good also.
Dont piss of the author!
By Anonymous on 9/4/2007 from Wisconsin USA
Not a bad program but the owner and author is not
worth the pain he produces in the south side.
He is well known for being rude and unwilling
to help his customers once he has their money!
Great fro Skywarn Net Controls
By Jason on 12/1/2007 from Wisconsin USA
This is a great package for the net control operator of your local Skywarn Amateur Radio Net. The great thing about is the speed from the time the alerts are issued to when you are getting it on screen. Some times you get the alert before it even hits your local NOAA radio station. You can also have it automatically print out certain warnings and watches, that way you have a paper record to pin and be able to quote from as necessary.

Too Much Advertising
By Anonymous on 2/11/2001 from Minneapolis, MN
WeatherBug is more graphical than other Internet-based weather agents, and does include some unique features like area weathercams. But its jam-packed with advertisements, and being programmed in Java, its a little flaky.
Interesting, but......
By Dan Dimitroff on 4/9/2001 from Central Illinois
It seems this product can load software onto your system while you're not looking. One morning, I suddenly had Gator running on my machine. I wiped it out, then a few days later had some other software running on my machine. Too scary for words.
Plus, this january during -17degree weather, WeatherBug was showing 42 degrees. Not worth the CPU cycles.
Unreliable and not worth your time!
By Roger Hill on 8/25/2002 from Tulsa, OK
This program is a complete joke in all degrees (no pun intended!) It appears that AWS is putting SPYWARE in the WeatherBug installer, which kills your computer! The data is hardly ever accurate. This is NOT a chasing tool!! Get yourself a Davis Weather Monitor II and hook it up in your car if you want to see the temp, dew points, wind speed, etc.. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH WEATHER BUG IT'S JUNK!

THIS JUST POPPED UP ONE DAY ON MY COMPUTER, AND ITS STAUTS IS THATS ITS ALWAYS DOWNLOADING.... FOR LIKE THE PAST MONTH NOW. HOW DO I MAKE THIS STOP AND ERASE FROM THE HARDDRIVE COMPLETELY?
DONT!!!!!
By Anonymous on 12/16/2002 from MI USA
This software is next to absolutely worthless, it uses an incredibly high amount of bandwidth(watch out 56K dialup users!)the gator spyware is a real pain to get rid of and you'll need to use a registry edit prog to remove all of it.
It's nice in functionality but they'll change the skins on you giving you a difficult to read display too often.
Bottom line- there's other nice weather software out there, go there instead.
new versions are excellent
By Juan Stumofu on 9/25/2003 from washington, d.c.
a lot of the comments below are 2 years or older! new version is spyware= free- in fact, on their support page it gives you links to ad-aware and other spyware detection programs. I used this during the last hurricane and their coverage was 100 times better than anything else- sometimes 20/30 minutes ahead of my local news!
WeatherBug is NOT spyware
By Jay Hoffman on 9/25/2003 from Gaithersburg, MD
this is Jay, customer support manager at WeatherBug. Although many of the posts about the product are over two years old, it's important to address the underlying concern. WeatherBug does not monitor, collect data or 'spy' on its user base. If a software program is implying or reporting that WeatherBug is 'spyware', it is incorrect.
WeatherBug is incapable of tracking your overall web use or deciphering anything on your hard drive. WeatherBug has no functionality to determine what you were doing/where you were surfing before you opened your WeatherBug program - or where you go after using the WeatherBug. WeatherBug only sets a cookie for the zip you enter so that you don't have to retype it every time you log back on. That's it. We don't care where you surf.
We're in 6000 schools, and our CEO won a Smithsonian Laureate Award for designing the software that tens of thousands of students use with our weather stations.

By B Cotton on 12/11/2003 from KLAF

Just Don't
By Jason Castine on 5/22/2004 from Savannah, GA
I got it thinking it would just be something interesting which it was, but still a lot of trouble. Just go with something else. It's not worth your time.
Weatherbug is awesome
By TCP on 8/16/2004 from NYC
Weatherbug is not spyware. I've been using it for 2 years and I love it. There are ads occasionally -- yes. Who else is going to pay for the sponsors if we don't buy the pro versions? They aren't intrusive and they aren't frequent... and I do not work for weatherbug, so there's my feedback.

Not For Chasers
By Anonymous on 2/13/2001 from Minneapolis, MN
I'm usually impressed with products from Microsoft, but Streets & Trips is not one of them. The interface is good and it may be useful for planning a family vacation, but for a few reasons, its just not a great package for storm chasers. First, the "car" marker only updates about every tenth of a mile. This might not seem too bad, but I've missed a lot of turnoffs because of this. By contrast, the DeLorme Street Atlas updates about every 20 feet. Secondly, the point-to-point directions are only marginally useful. And finally, there is no bread-crumb trail, which is a major disappointment to me.
About the update speed.
By Daniel on 6/6/2004 from Vernon Hills, Il.
The update speed all depends upon what GPS device you are using to get info fed to the computer. I use a Garmin eTrex handheld unit and it feeds raw positioning data to my laptop every 10 feet. Perhaps you don't have something set up right?
Buy a newer version instead
By Jack Kambert on 11/8/2004 from Pembina, ND
I must echo the comments by Rory Groves above, however the program is sufficiently usable enough in any scenario NOT involving the use of a GPS to make it useful enough if it's all you have. The resolution problem has little to do with the GPS receiver by the way, as suggested by Daniel above; it's a program limitation. I can see live data with my other applications and there's little if any delay from my GPS unit with them. Verdict; for storm chasing use a newer version or another program if you plan on using it with a GPS unit.

The software that comes with it sucks. You can get alot more out of this system if you know how to use the raw data that is downloaded on to your hard drive. The raw data is very good if you know how to display it with your own software. Maybe some day they will have better software for it. Until than come up with your own software for the raw data to display it the right way. Thir is a lot more their than what they tell you. You just need to know how to get it.
