Weather Forecasting Handbook, by Tim Vasquez
Weather Graphics Technologies

2000 / 163 pp. / 146 illustrations / ISBN 0-9706840-0-2. This readable book is a valuable reference for professionals, students, amateurs, storm chasers, sailors, and anyone who needs to know the exact fundamentals and mechanics of weather forecasting. Basic physical concepts are reviewed, and commonly-employed analysis methods are presented. Then weather systems are explained in terms of their thermal structure, dynamics, and effects. Margins are filled with forecasting facts, hard-hitting quotes, educational stories, and even a few fun weather jokes. With added emphasis on analysis, visualization, and awareness of model limitations, readers learn to use tools properly and are always a step ahead. Excellent Coverage for Storm Chasers
By Rory Groves on 2/7/2001 from Minneapolis, MN
I've been extremely satisfied with every product I've purchased from Tim Vasquez, whether it be instruction videos (Art of Storm Chasing) or computer software (Digital Atmosphere). And the Weather Forecasting Handbook is no exception. This book covers all the topics Storm Chasers would want to know about, and is especially good for beginners. Packed with charts, maps, and weather images, this volume presents a level of quality unparalleled in other Storm Chaser publications. I highly recommend it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I thought it could have used a few hands-on exercises at the end of each chapter.

Must Have for Storm Chasers
By Rory Groves on 2/7/2001 from Minneapolis, MN
"The Art of Storm Chasing" is simply the best Storm Chaser instructional video available. Period. I get it out a couple times every winter to prep myself for the coming season. Tim presents lots of information that you can put to use right away, like how to isolate target areas on a surface map, and what to look for when you're closing in on a storm. And the production quality is top-notch, so reserve a spot under your TV and order this video!

The Best of Both Worlds
By Shane AdamsNorman, OK. on 2/13/2001 from Norman, OK.
The Art of Stormchasing is an excellent video because it successfully blends technical know-how and jargon with easy-to-understand segments. Tim Vasquez shines on this video, showcasing his vast knowledge of various chasing gear/equipment, as well as sharing a few of his photography/videography tips. Shannon Key does a nice job narrating the video, which makes the instructional segements that much easier to understand. Gene Rhoden and Tim Marshall supply the tornadoes, which are fun and exciting. Marshall's humor is an unexpected treat. I honestly thought I would not like this video, but I find it's one of my favorites. I highly recommend it, and not just for beginners.
